Comcast Agrees to $117.5 Million Xfinity Data Breach Settlement: How to File Your Claim

Comcast has agreed to pay $117.5 million to settle a class action lawsuit over a 2023 cyberattack that exposed the personal information of roughly 36 million Xfinity customers.
The breach happened between October 16 and October 19, 2023, after hackers exploited a vulnerability in Citrix software. Comcast disclosed the incident in December 2023 and notified affected customers that their usernames, hashed passwords, contact information, dates of birth, and in some cases the last four digits of their Social Security numbers had been stolen.
Customers sued in Hasson v. Comcast Cable Communications LLC, arguing the company failed to adequately protect their data and that they were left to deal with the fallout, monitoring credit, freezing accounts, and watching for identity theft. Comcast denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid further litigation.
Who's eligible
Check if you qualify for this settlement
You qualify if you received a data breach notification from Comcast around December 18, 2023. You'll need the unique Class Member ID that was included in that notice. If you're not sure whether you got one, the settlement administrator has a lookup tool.
What you could get
There are two paths. You can claim a flat cash payment of approximately $50 with no documentation required. Or, if you had actual out-of-pocket losses tied to the breach — credit monitoring costs, identity theft expenses, fraud cleanup — you can file for reimbursement up to $10,000. You can also claim up to five hours of lost time at $30 per hour.
Every class member, whether they file a cash claim or not, automatically gets three years of identity protection services, including credit monitoring, dark web monitoring, and $1 million in identity theft insurance.
How to file
You have until August 14, 2026 to file your claim. The final approval hearing is scheduled for July 7, 2026, and payments will go out after the court signs off.
