Temu and Shein Hit With Class Actions Over Tariff Price Hikes

Temu and Shein are being sued over the price hikes they rolled out to cover Trump's China tariffs — the same tariffs the Supreme Court later ruled were unconstitutional.
This is a brand new case. It has nothing to do with any previous Temu or Shein lawsuit you may have heard about.
Here's what happened. In early 2025, after President Trump imposed sweeping tariffs on Chinese imports under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, Temu and Shein jacked up prices — in some cases by as much as 377%. Both companies told customers the extra cost was to cover the new tariffs. The Supreme Court then ruled Trump had exceeded his authority and declared those tariffs illegal.

Now the companies could be in line for massive refunds from the U.S. Treasury, potentially worth hundreds of millions of dollars. The lawsuits, filed in March in Cook County Circuit Court by McGuire Law, argue that Temu and Shein shouldn't get to pocket the "windfall" — that money came from customers' pockets and should go back to customers.
Who's eligible
Anyone in the U.S. who bought items from Temu or Shein between February 2025 and February 2026 could be part of the proposed nationwide class.
How to file
There's no settlement yet. The cases were just filed and still need to be certified as class actions, which takes time. If and when a settlement is reached, eligible customers will be able to file a claim for a refund.
