Planned Parenthood Montana Data Breach Settlement: Patients Can Claim Up to $5,000
Planned Parenthood of Montana agreed to a $400K settlement after a ransomware attack exposed patient data. Affected individuals can claim up to $5,000 plus free monitoring.

December 13, 2025 — Planned Parenthood of Montana has agreed to pay $400,000 to settle a class action lawsuit over an August 2024 ransomware attack that exposed the personal and medical information of more than 60,000 patients.
What Happened
In late August 2024, a ransomware group called RansomHub broke into Planned Parenthood of Montana's network and stole 93 gigabytes of patient data. The attack occurred between August 24 and August 28, 2024, and wasn't discovered until the hackers left a ransom note.
The stolen data included names, addresses, dates of birth, medical record numbers, health insurance information, provider names, dates of service, diagnoses, treatment information, and prescription details — essentially a complete picture of patients' reproductive healthcare history.
