PetSafe E-Collar Settlement: California Pet Owners Can Claim Up to $140 Per Product
PetSafe agreed to a $1.9M settlement over claims its shock collars caused harm to pets. California buyers can claim $30–$140 per product by Dec 29, 2025.

December 7, 2025 — If you bought a PetSafe bark collar, invisible fence, or pet barrier in California over the past few years, you might have money waiting for you. Radio Systems Corporation — the company behind PetSafe — just agreed to pay $1.9 million to settle claims that they marketed these shock collars as "safe" and "harmless" when they allegedly weren't.
What PetSafe Allegedly Did
The lawsuit claims PetSafe sold electronic collars, invisible fences, and barrier systems while telling customers the shocks were "harmless" and wouldn't hurt their pets. According to the lawsuit, that wasn't true.
Plaintiffs allege these products actually caused physical injuries like skin burns, infections, and inflammation — plus psychological harm including anxiety, fear, and behavioral changes in dogs. The complaint also accused PetSafe of using soft marketing language like "static correction" and "gentle stimulation" to downplay what's essentially an electric shock.
Radio Systems denies any wrongdoing, but they agreed to the $1.9 million settlement to avoid further litigation.
