Great Wolf Lodge Sued Over Hidden Website Fees

Great Wolf Lodge Sued Over Hidden Website Fees

Great Wolf Lodge is being sued over a hidden $9.99 fee that allegedly doesn't show up until checkout.

A class action lawsuit filed in Illinois federal court claims Great Wolf Resorts violates Virginia's Mandatory Fees or Surcharges Law by advertising water park ticket prices on its website without including a mandatory "Amenity Fee" in the displayed price. The lawsuit centers on the company's Great Wolf Lodge Williamsburg location, an indoor water park in Virginia.

According to the complaint, when a customer selects a ticket to the Williamsburg water park on greatwolf.com, the price they see doesn't include the $9.99 fee. It only appears at checkout — after the customer has already clicked through multiple screens.

Virginia passed a law in 2025 that requires businesses to clearly display the total price of goods and services upfront, including all mandatory fees. The lawsuit alleges Great Wolf Resorts is violating that law by tacking on the fee at the end of the booking process instead of including it in the advertised price.

The plaintiff, Sherrie Grant, wants to represent a class of Virginia consumers who purchased tickets to Great Wolf Lodge Williamsburg through the company's website and were not shown the full price upfront.

Great Wolf Lodge operates 23 indoor water park resorts across the U.S. and Canada. BBB complaints from earlier this year show other customers reporting similar issues with unexpected charges appearing during the booking process at other Great Wolf locations.

What the lawsuit is asking for

The lawsuit accuses Great Wolf Resorts of violating Virginia's Mandatory Fees or Surcharges Law and the Virginia Consumer Protection Act. The plaintiff is requesting compensatory and statutory damages for herself and all class members, along with injunctive relief to stop the practice.
