Cameo Sued Over "Drip Pricing" on Personalized Celebrity Videos

Cameo, the app that lets fans buy personalized video shoutouts from celebrities, is being hit with a class action lawsuit over how it prices those videos.

Plaintiff Tyler Ohler filed the complaint on March 16 in California federal court against Baron App Inc., the company behind Cameo. The lawsuit alleges Cameo uses "drip pricing" — advertising one price upfront, then tacking on a 10% service fee at the very end of checkout, after you've already picked your celebrity, written your message, and entered your payment info.

According to the complaint, the fee shows up in small, faded text on the final page. By that point, most people have already invested enough time customizing their video that they just push through and pay it.

Ohler says he bought a Cameo video on October 5, 2025, expecting to pay $100 based on the artist's listed price. He didn't expect a junk fee at the end. The lawsuit argues that not disclosing the true price upfront was the whole reason he completed the purchase.
